Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty on Sunday stressed the urgent need to intensify diplomatic efforts and prioritise political and diplomatic solutions to contain the current escalation in the region, prevent the conflict from widening, and safeguard regional and international security and stability.

Abdelatty made the remarks during his meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India.

Egypt, Thailand move to expand economic, investment co-operation

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa received on Sunday Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Thailand Lertsak Pattanachaikul, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of strengthening Egyptian-Thai relations and expanding bilateral co-operation.

Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Hany Azer, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Cairo Thanawat Sirikul, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ambassador Amr Hamza were present at the meeting.

FM holds talks with BRICS counterparts

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met on Sunday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi, and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

President Donald Trump suggested on Sunday the United States could stay in Iran and “keep the ‌oil”, drawing a parallel with a US push to take control of a fifth of Venezuela’s vast oil reserves.

Israel, Lebanon to meet in Rome in October

Israel and Lebanon will meet in Rome in October to discuss a US-brokered security agreement intended to ‌ease hostilities along the border, a State Department Official told Reuters.
