Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has reaffirmed the government’s full support for Accor’s expansion plans in Egypt, stressing the importance of strengthening co-operation with the French hospitality group and developing a joint roadmap for future investment in the country’s tourism sector.

Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with Accor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sébastien Bazin.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ambassador Wael Hamed, and Sofitel Chief Executive Officer Maud Bailly attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the prime minister highlighted Egypt’s efforts to create new investment opportunities across promising tourism destinations, particularly those with distinctive natural and cultural assets, and encouraged Accor to coordinate with the government to identify suitable opportunities and introduce additional brands to the Egyptian market.

Accor chairman described Egypt as a strategic and promising market, citing the country’s continued development of tourism destinations, services and products.

He announced the group’s target of adding approximately 25,000 hotel rooms in Egypt over the next three years through new projects and brands developed with Egyptian partners.

Bazin stressed that Accor’s strategy extends beyond increasing room capacity to diversifying hotel products according to the character of each destination.

He underscored the importance of authentic, high-quality experiences incorporating Egyptian crafts, arts, music and local culture, while also highlighting the need to continuously upgrade existing properties, particularly luxury hotels.

He offered to share Accor’s international expertise with Egyptian stakeholders. He further proposed establishing a specialised hospitality academy in Egypt to develop Egyptian talent and equip tourism professionals with international-standard skills while preserving the country’s cultural identity.

Tourism minister, for his part, said Accor’s expansion supports Egypt’s tourism growth targets and the urgent need for additional, high-quality hotel capacity.

He highlighted rising arrivals, occupancy rates, room prices and hotel revenues, alongside opportunities to expand luxury accommodation and diversify tourism products across beach, cultural, leisure and eco-tourism.

Fathy also stressed the value of joint international marketing using Accor’s global network, as well as coordinating on the introduction of new brands to ensure they suit individual destinations and market requirements.

The two sides agreed to maintain close coordination on new investments, existing projects, brand expansion, joint marketing, and hospitality training, supporting Egypt’s efforts to expand capacity, diversify its tourism offering and maximise the sector’s economic returns.
