Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, and Chairman of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI), Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abu Bakr, have discussed means of boosting co-operation and supporting efforts to deepen local manufacturing and localise modern technology across various industrial sectors.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, was part of the efforts to carry out Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy 2030, making greater use of available manufacturing and production capacities in civilian industries.
Co-operation between the two sides aims at providing the needs of the local market, increasing the added value of national industry, reducing imports and boosting exports.
The discussions during the meeting reviewed the AOI’s manufacturing capabilities and expertise in both defence and civilian industries, as well as its role in designing and producing goods and components currently imported from abroad in line with quality standards.
The AOI is ready to enhance co-operation with the ministry in implementing joint projects and accelerating plans aimed at deepening local manufacturing and localising technology, Abu Bakr said.
For his part, Minister Hashem described the AOI as a strategic industrial pillar for Egypt, highlighting its advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities and its potential role in supporting the country’s industrial development plans.
Closer co-operation could help link scientific research with industrial applications, strengthen partnerships with the private sector and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products in regional and international markets, he said.
