Egypt has been selected to host the 2027 annual board meeting of the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA), the tourism and antiquities ministry said Thursday.
The association’s board unanimously approved Egypt’s bid to host the meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Cairo in April 2027, outside the United States.
The event could help boost visitor numbers from the US market, which he described as an important source of tourism for Egypt. The number of US tourists visiting Egypt rose by two percent in the first half of this year compared with the same period in 2025, the ministry said.
The meeting will be organised by the Egyptian Tourism Authority, which will host the USTOA delegation and arrange logistical support and a programme of visits to archaeological and tourist sites across the country.
The programme will showcase Egypt’s diverse tourism offerings, including less traditional destinations and experiences, the ministry said.
The event is expected to bring together senior USTOA members and US tourism industry decision-makers. It will also include business meetings between association members and Egyptian tourism companies and travel agents, aimed at developing partnerships and increasing tourist flows from the US.
USTOA is one of the leading professional tourism organisations in the United States and includes major tour operators and travel companies. Its members serve around 9.8 million travellers annually, according to the ministry.
