Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa and a senior delegation from a leading Chinese aluminium manufacturing group, discussed on Thursday, plans to invest $2 billion in Egypt through establishing an integrated industrial complex in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, expected to create more than 3,000 jobs.

As the meeting started, Eissa welcomed the delegation, and stressed the deep-rooted ties between Egypt-China relations and their remarkable development, particularly in economic and investment fields.

He affirmed Egypt’s commitment to boosting the comprehensive strategic partnership and expanding co-operation in the interests of both countries and their peoples, whose ties extend across a shared history and thousands of years of cultural heritage.

Eissa emphaised that attracting and supporting foreign investment is a top government priority for advancing comprehensive and sustainable economic development.

He also affirmed the government’s commitment to removing obstacles facing investors and providing incentives and facilities to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of Egypt’s investment environment.

The deputy prime minister highlighted the proposed project’s importance in transferring expertise and modern technologies to Egypt and its reliance on clean energy sources, in line with global trends towards sustainability and green industries.

For their part, the Chinese delegation expressed its interest in expanding the group’s operations in Egypt, highlighting the country’s strategic geographic location linking global markets and the significant infrastructure development achieved in recent years.

It added that the new complex would help meet local market needs while increasing exports to international markets, thereby strengthening Egypt’s position as a leading regional manufacturing and export hub.
