President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi received in Cairo on Wednesdaythe Commander of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and other senior officials including Chief of Staff Khaled Haftar and Head of the Reconstruction Fund Belkassem Haftar.
Presidency spokesman Mohamed El‑Shenawy said President Sisi stressed the deep fraternal ties between Egypt and Libya. The President reiterated Egypt’s firm position on safeguarding Libya’s unity, supporting the unification of institutions, and holding parliamentary and presidential elections. He affirmedEgypt’s commitment to Libya’s security and stability, support ofinitiatives that promote peace, development and prosperity while ensuring territorial integrity.
The meeting also explored opportunities for bilateral cooperation, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
For his part, Haftar expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in supporting peace and stability in Libya and the wider region, affirming his support for initiatives aimed at preserving Libya’s unity and security. He stressed his keenness to continue close coordination with Egypt to address shared challenges and advance comprehensive development in Libya.
