Egypt is probing plans to develop the Forbes Global Tower as part of efforts to attract more international investments and promote sustainable urban development, Housing and Utilities Minister Randa el-Menshawy has said.

Minister el-Menshawy on Tuesday received Forbes Global Properyies’ CEO, Michael Jalbert, and accompanying delegation, to review the project.

She stressed the ministry’s commitment to supporting international projects and creating a favourable environment for global companies and brands to expand in Egypt.

Forbes projects will help boost private-sector co-operation and attract international investment, in line with Egypt’s drive to apply green building and sustainability standards to urban development, the minister said.

For his part, Jalbert presented the Forbes Global Tower as a landmark project combining urban innovation and environmental sustainability. He described it as the world’s first zero-carbon-emissions tower and outlined Forbes’ vision for developing the project in Egypt.

He also welcomed the project’s Platinum rating under the Green Pyramid Rating System issued by the National Research Centre for Housing and Building, saying it reflected Egypt’s commitment to sustainability and green construction.

Meanwhile, Minister el-Menshawy also discussed with representatives of the Cairo International Financial Centre (CIFC) proposals for managing the Financial and Business District in the New Capital.

During the meeting, el-Menshawy noted that construction work in the Central Business District had been completed, and emphasised the importance of benefiting from international expertise in managing financial and business districts.

The ministry was keen to study the various proposals submitted for managing the district to ensure maximum operational efficiency, make the best use of the New Capital’s capabilities and potential, and enhance its ability to attract global investments and companies, she noted.
