India, a country of diversity, resilience and transformation, has witnessed remarkable progress in all endeavours. From a post-colonial country to a country that’s charting a new path, India’s growth story is not merely a story of economic and technological heft, at its heart are the aspirations, hopes and dreams of 1.4 billion Indians.

It is a story which every developing country strives to inculcate. India is leaping forward in all fields – from space to science and technology, from digital public infrastructure to defence which is rewriting the narrative of what a developing nation can achieve.

India’s economic journey has been nothing short of remarkable-moving rapidly up the global scoreboard to emerge as the world’s fourth-largest economy. But this rise is more than a number on a rankings table. It is the story of an expanding middle class, a young and aspirational population, and millions of entrepreneurs and innovators who are turning ambition into opportunity and opportunity into growth.

Today, India has around 250,000 start-ups, revolutionising industries and has become the 4th largest manufacturing economy. This growth is also reflected in trade, with total trade crossing US$1.5 Trillion dollars last year. These are not merely numbers but rather represent a generation that is willing to dream, innovate and build.

No Indian can forget the sight of Vikram-1 steering into the sky, marking the first successful private launch in India. Space is not the limit for India. The nation watched with pride as Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the south pole of the Moon, making India the first country to achieve this historic feat. From looking at the stars to reaching them, India’s journey in space is a testimony to its ability to transform dreams into reality.

Post-Independence India was marred by a lack of infrastructure. Fast forward to today, India railways has become the second largest freight carrier globally carrying 1.6 billion metric tonnes annually. It has developed indigenously the Vande Bharat highspeed passenger train, while the number of airports have doubled reaching 147 in a decade. The national highways witnessed remarkable expansion reaching around 150,000kms, and the major ports capacity has doubled changing the course of India’s maritime infrastructure. The transformation is visible not only in numbers and statistics but in the everyday experience of millions of Indians. From faster connectivity to modern transportation, from ports to highways, India is building the foundations of a new and developed India.

Technology for all is the soul-word of India’s technological revolution. Digital Public Infrastructure has become a powerful instrument of inclusion, accessibility and empowerment. India is not just adopting technology but building the future of technology and bringing such technology to the heart of every citizen, with the motto of accessibility to all. AI tools such as Bhashini, an AI-enabled language translation and digital inclusion platform for citizens, speaks for the citizen centric technological development.

Milestones have also been achieved in Quantum Technology, with a 1,000-km quantum communication network, one of the longest in the world, having been successfully demonstrated within less than two years of its launch. Indian scientists are breaking records in Nuclear Technology, with the indigenous Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam and a world-first nuclear-heated hydrogen production facility. Technology, in India, is increasingly becoming technology for transformation.

India’s defence journey from being an importer of defence equipment to becoming an exporter strikes a remarkable contrast. BrahMos cruise missile is considered the best in class globally. From the successful testing of the ‘Indian Tomahawk’, the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM), to Kusha, the Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile, India’s defence industry is exhibiting innovation coupled with precision. From building aircraft careers to submarines, from 5th Generation fighter aircrafts to attack helicopters, India is building not only for its own security but also emerging as a responsible defence partner for the world.

India is not just preaching sustainability but actively following it through LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). The renewable energy story is hard to miss, with the rapid development of renewable energy infrastructure, ranking third in capacity. India’s development story is, therefore, not only about growth, but about growth with responsibility-people, planet and prosperity moving together.

India’s dream of Viksit Bharat that is, a developed India by 2047 is not a distant dream but an achievable action. It is a dream powered by the aspirations of its people, the innovation of its youth and the determination of its citizens. India’s dream is not just a reflection of the aspirations of its people; it is also a reflection of the aspirations of the entire Global South.

From the fields of food security to the frontiers of space, from the smallest digital transaction to the largest infrastructure project, from the power of its defence capabilities to the magic of its culture, India is writing a story of transformation. A story of a nation that has travelled far, but is determined to travel further. A story of diversity, resilience and transformation. No wonder that India is a land of wonders.
