EgyptAir has launched direct flights from Jeddah and Medina to Alamein International Airport, operating one weekly flight from each destination. The flights started on Thursday and run until September 12.
The new services will provide travellers from Saudi Arabia with direct access to Alamein, while supporting Egypt’s efforts to promote the country as a leading tourist destination and attract more visitors.
The move comes amid growing demand for New Alamein, which has emerged in recent years as one of the Mediterranean coast’s leading tourist destinations and a major venue for international events and festivals.
Egypt’s national carrier continues to support inbound tourism from global markets by operating special direct flights to the country’s major tourist destinations.
Meanwhile, EgyptAir has begun operating a series of special flights from Algeria to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, carrying around 3,200 tourists on 26 flights using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, each with a capacity of 186 passengers.
The flights are being operated in co-operation with leading Algerian tourism companies, which welcomed the direct services as a boost to travel and tourism during the current summer season.
EgyptAir also started operating special direct flights from the Italian cities of Bari and Catania to Sharm el-Sheikh on Saturday, as part of its strategy to expand services to promising tourism markets.
The flights, operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, will continue through the end of September.
