Chairman of Egypt’s State Information Service, Ambassador Alaa Youssef, said building youth awareness is central to strengthening society and enabling it to face challenges. He explained that awareness means understanding reality and recognising risks, empowering young people to make sound decisions and contribute to nation‑building.
Speaking at the “Strength in Our Youth” initiative organised by the Supreme Council of Culture, Youssef highlighted the importance of investing in the awareness of Egyptians aged 18–35. He warned of misinformation on social media, attempts at ideological polarisation and the absence of role models, stressing the need for critical thinking and resilience.
He pointed to the dangers of fourth and fifth‑generation warfare, which target societies’ cohesion through psychological, media and digital tools, including cyber operations and AI‑driven disinformation. Confronting these challenges, he said, requires knowledge, national identity and responsibility.
Youssef concluded that awareness‑building is a shared responsibility of the state, institutions, society and youth themselves. He urged young people to embrace reading, cultural participation and positive use of technology, turning digital platforms into spaces for knowledge production and civic engagement.
The session ended with an interactive dialogue between Youssef and participants on national awareness, the impact of social media and ways to counter misinformation.
