The Board of Peace’s high representative for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, said Sunday that the board is continuing talks with Israel on a roadmap for the Gaza Strip, expressing hope for positive results that ensure Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israeli security.
Speaking to Israel’s Channel 12, Mladenov noted that the plan was a joint document drawn up by the US-led board and Hamas.
He outlined three key elements of the roadmap: the complete disarmament of Gaza; the transfer of administrative and governing responsibility to the Peace Board via a national committee; and the deployment of an international security force to oversee the transition.
According to Mladenov, Hamas agreed to immediately halt all military operations and hand over control of civil affairs, infrastructure, and tunnels.
Israel’s withdrawal would be gradual and phased, beginning only after concrete steps are taken on the ground. Israeli forces would pull out strictly from areas declared completely free of weapons and tunnels until reaching the border fence. Mladenov emphasised that the process would halt immediately if Hamas fails to comply or attempts to rearm.
He urged Israel to give the plan a chance, refrain from crossing the designated Yellow Line, and avoid targeting civilians except in cases of direct threats to soldiers’ lives.
Weapons collected under the plan would be stored and fully deactivated under international and national committee supervision to prevent future use.
