Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co‑operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel‑Aati, held a telephone conversation on Saturday with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to discuss the latest regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
The two ministers addressed efforts to advance Egyptian‑Iraqi co‑operation and coordination on issues of mutual concern.
They reviewed ways to build on the growing momentum in relations between Egypt and Iraq, expand collaboration across various fields, and maintain regular consultation on regional developments.
They also exchanged views on the prospects for future security arrangements, stressing the importance of joint efforts to de‑escalate tensions, prioritise dialogue and support initiatives aimed at restoring calm and resolving regional crises through political and diplomatic means.
Both sides underscored the need to preserve regional security and stability, while emphasising the importance of continuing to strengthen the trilateral co‑operation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
They described this framework as a promising vehicle for advancing regional integration and capitalising on the human and economic resources of the three countries.
The ministers highlighted the need to build on the achievements of the trilateral mechanism and further develop co‑operation in ways that serve the interests of the three nations and meet the aspirations of their peoples for greater development, stability and shared prosperity.
