Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Morsi on Wednesday received Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Cairo Ezz El-Din Tago to discuss ways to increase trade and investment between the two countries.
The meeting highlighted the technological, manufacturing and technical capabilities of military production companies and fields of joint co-operation.
Morsi said his ministry hopes to benefit from Philippino industrial expertise with a view to transfer and localisation of modern technologies in Egypt within the government’s broader strategy to support sustainable development by relying on local manufacture to the highest international quality standards.
Egypt is a promising market for the products of Philippino companies, thanks to investment in transport, ports, communications and energy, in addition to the establishment of industrial areas, the minister said.
Ambassador Tago spoke of the need for stronger co-operation ties between the two countries through coordination between the embassy and various Egyptian government bodies to increase trade volume and investment.
The Philippino envoy hailed Egypt’s pivotal role in the Arab region and the Middle East and its efforts to combat terrorism.
Many Philippino companies hope to open new horizons for co-operation with military production firms, the envoy added.
