Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reviewed the progress of the implementation of the Terminal 4 project at Cairo International Airport.

During a meeting on Tuesday with Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny and Chairman of Cairo Airport Company Magdy Ishak, Madbouli underscored the strategic importance of Terminal 4, describing it as a transformative project for Egypt’s main international gateway that reflects the country’s ongoing development across multiple sectors.

He said continued investment in expanding and modernising Egypt’s airports is essential to supporting the state’s comprehensive development agenda.

Minister el-Hefny outlined the project’s strategic vision, objectives and implementation progress, describing Terminal 4 as one of the flagship national projects aimed at enhancing Cairo International Airport’s status as a regional and global aviation hub.

The minister said the new terminal will have an annual capacity of 40 million passengers, forming part of a broader plan to increase the airport’s total capacity to around 70 million passengers a year.

The expansion is designed to meet projected growth in passenger traffic, accommodate additional airlines and strengthen Egypt’s role as a strategic air transport gateway linking Africa, Asia and Europe.

El-Hefny added that the project constitutes a strategic investment in the future of Egypt’s civil aviation sector. It is expected to enhance Cairo International Airport’s competitiveness, increase transit traffic, attract more international airlines, and support tourism, trade and investment, while creating new opportunities for economic growth. The project also aligns with Egypt Vision 2030, which aims to position the country as a leading regional hub for transport and logistics. He noted that Terminal 4 will incorporate the latest global airport design and operational concepts, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation technologies, to deliver smart and sustainable operating model.
