Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed asserted on Wednesday that the Egyptian state is dealing with population issues within the framework of its overarching strategy for socio-economic sustainable development which is being implemented through numerous national initiatives and projects aiming at providing suitable housing and decent life for all Egyptians.

This came during her participation at the opening session of the Forum of Arab Parliamentarians on Population and Development hosted by the parliament.

The session was attended by Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi el Gebali, head of the forum Abdel Hadi el Qasabi, former Japanese prime minister and head of the Asian Population and Development Association (APDA) Fukuda Yasuo, Regional Director for Arab States in UNFPA Luay Shabaneh, International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat, Social Solidarity Minster Nivene Qabbag, head of National Council for Women Maya Morsy and a host of local, regional and international officials.

The minister added that the Decent Life initiative is considered the biggest development initiative in the history of Egypt and the world for it covers all the Egyptian countryside (about 4,500 villages inhabited by 52 million people) with the aim of developing all rural communities across the nation within three years at an estimated cost of USD 52 billion.
