Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli met on Monday Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi in Alamein to follow up on key energy files.
The prime minister stressed the government’s priority of securing energy supplies, highlighting the need for coordination among all stakeholders, accelerating development of new discoveries and boosting domestic production to reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub.
For his part, Minister Badawi presented the ministry’s plan to meet local energy demand in August, detailing operational scenarios, contingency measures and readiness levels to ensure uninterrupted supply. He confirmed that emergency plans and alternative operating models have proven effective in maintaining fuel and gas availability, stabilising electricity generation and supporting vital sectors.
The minister noted the regular arrival of LNG and petroleum shipments to sustain full operation of power plants during peak summer demand, coordinated with the Central Bank, finance and electricity ministries. He also reviewed progress in gas development projects with international partners, linking new discoveries to Egypt’s infrastructure to maximise resources, strengthen regional energy security and provide additional supplies to European markets.
