Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Monday chaired the third meeting of the Ministerial Committee for China to review progress in bilateral co-operation and explore opportunities to strengthen the strategic partnership between Egypt and China across a wide range of sectors.

The Egyptian side included Minister of Transport Kamel el-Wazir, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy.

Madbouli reaffirmed the strength of relations between Cairo and Beijing, highlighting the commitment of both countries’ leaderships to expanding co-operation and building on the positive outcomes achieved in recent years in support of development priorities and shared interests.

He reviewed progress on several joint projects and stressed the importance of continued coordination to advance co-operation in investment, industry, energy, transport, infrastructure and technology.

Madbouli noted that Chinese investments in Egypt have surpassed $10 billion through numerous companies operating across diverse economic sectors, reflecting growing confidence in Egypt’s investment environment and its expanding opportunities.

Cabinet Spokesman Counsellor Mohamed el-Homsany said the meeting examined a range of joint projects and investment opportunities in priority sectors, including industry, seawater desalination, technology localisation, communications, transport, mining, clean energy, specialised chemical industries, engineering industries, agriculture and agricultural exports.

Discussions also covered measures to support sustainable development, promote technology transfer, attract further investment and broaden economic co-operation.

The ministers reviewed ongoing projects and explored additional opportunities to deepen Egyptian-Chinese co-operation across multiple sectors.
