Egypt’s U18 women’s handball team has officially qualified for the quarterfinals at the 2026 IHF Women’s Youth World Championship in Romania.
They earned their spot in the top eight after a dramatic 28–27 victory over South Korea, marking their fourth win in a row.
The match started tough for Egypt. South Korea took early control of the game, taking a 6–1 lead while Egypt struggled to score in the opening minutes.
However, Egypt quickly found their rhythm and fought back, tying the score at 13–13 by halftime.
South Korea took control again in the second half, building a commanding 26–20 lead with less than ten minutes left.
Just when the game seemed lost, Egypt launched a stunning final comeback. Great defense, key saves from their goalkeeper, and clutch goals allowed Egypt to close the match on an 8–1 run.
In the final minute, Egypt tied the game at 27–27 before scoring the winning goal in the final seconds.
This incredible finish secured Egypt’s place in the quarterfinals and ended South Korea’s chances of advancing.
