Hamas and other Palestinian factions have informed mediators that they accept a roadmap for implementing the second phase of a Gaza ceasefire agreement, an Egyptian source said.
The source said a meeting bringing together mediators from Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Turkey would be held soon to reaffirm all parties’ commitment to implementing the agreement.
The second phase includes the deployment of a national committee to administer Gaza, the arrival of an international stabilisation force, early recovery efforts and reconstruction, the source said.
Hamas and the Palestinian factions had responded positively to proposals by the mediators aimed at preserving Gaza and its people and advancing the reconstruction of the territory, the source added.
Under the agreement, the national committee would oversee the process of cataloguing and storing weapons, which would be carried out gradually and in stages, according to the Egyptian source.
The process would begin after the committee enters Gaza and the international stabilisation force is deployed across the territory, the source said.
