Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati on Wednesday received a telephone call from US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff to discuss the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions across the region.

During the call, Minister Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of respecting the principles of good neighbourliness, full adherence to international law, and respect for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of all states.

He also underlined the need to prioritise political and diplomatic solutions and intensify efforts to contain tensions in order to restore regional security and stability and prevent any further deterioration of the situation, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallf.

He added that the freign minister also condemned all attacks targeting the Gulf states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, reaffirming Egypt’s complete rejection of any actions that undermine the security, sovereignty or stability of brotherly countries.

During the call, the two sides exchanged assessments of the latest regional developments and underscored the importance of preventing further escalation and avoiding a wider regional conflict.

They stressed that sustained de-escalation efforts are essential to preserving regional security and stability and protecting the peoples of the region from the humanitarian and economic consequences of continued tensions.
