PM reviews progress on restructuring state-owned companies

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli reviewed on Sunday the latest progress in restructuring state-owned companies and implementing the government’s divestment programme as part of the State Ownership Policy document during a meeting in New Alamein City.

The prime minister stressed that the government is taking concrete steps to improve the performance of state-owned companies, maximise the value of their assets and production capacities, and enhance the efficiency of public asset management to increase their contribution to Egypt’s economic growth.

Egypt launches 2nd edition of EIAS 2026 under President Sisi’s patronage

The Egyptian Air Force announced the launch of the second edition of the El Alamein International Aerospace Exhibition (EIAS 2026), scheduled to take place next September in El Alamein City under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

The announcement was made during an international press conference attended by Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny, Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Amr Saqr, several ministers, Chief Executive Officer of the Egyptian Space Agency Magdy Ismail, Head of the Armed Forces Armament Authority Major General Mohamed Adly, senior Armed Forces commanders, military attachés accredited to Egypt and representatives of leading international aviation companies.

Kremlin: Too early to comment on reported US-Ukraine air ceasefire talks

 Russia considers it premature to comment on reports that the United States and Ukraine are discussing a possible halt to aerial attacks as part ​of efforts to end the war, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said ‌on Sunday.

A Ukrainian source told Reuters that Ukrainian and U.S. officials had discussed a proposal for an air ceasefire to present to Russia as part of a new push to revive ​peace talks aimed at ending the conflict triggered by Moscow’s 2022 invasion ​of Ukraine.

Ugandan diplomat joins race to become next UN head

Ugandan diplomat ​Olara Otunnu has joined the contest to become the next secretary-general of ‌the United Nations, the seventh contender to succeed Antonio Guterres when he steps down at the end of this year.

Otunnu, a former UN under-secretary-general who served as a special representative for children and armed conflict, ​was nominated by Uganda in a letter on Friday to the presidents of the ​U.N. General Assembly and Security Council.
