Ras Ghareb wind power project to generate 800,000 MWh of clean electricity annually

Egypt’s Minister of Labour Mohamed Gobran stressed that successful investment requires a skilled and trained workforce, along with a safe and stable working environment.

Gobran made the remarks during a field visit on Sunday to the Masdar EBN Tec wind energy project in Ras Ghareb, Red Sea Governorate, accompanied by Red Sea Governor Walid el-Barqy.

The minister said the Ministry of Labour is continuing to implement its “Training for Employment” strategy, enhance vocational training programmes, and promote occupational safety and health standards to meet labour market needs and improve productivity.

During the tour, Gobran reviewed progress on major national projects, inspected working conditions at production sites, and followed up on compliance with labour regulations and occupational safety requirements.

Located in Ras Ghareb, the project is one of Egypt’s major renewable energy initiatives, with a production capacity of 200 megawatts. It is expected to generate around 800,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean electricity annually, enough to meet the needs of approximately 311,000 households, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 436,000 tonnes per year.

The project contributes to Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals of transitioning towards a green economy and expanding reliance on clean energy sources.
