The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s escalating actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem.

The eight nations denounced the continued large-scale incursions by Israeli settlers, led by extremist ministers under the protection of Israeli security forces.

In their joint statement released on Friday, the ministers condemned several recent provocative acts within the compound, including the raising of the Israeli flag inside the mosque perimeter, the erection of two police tents within its courtyards, and the imposition of discriminatory restrictions on Muslim worshippers attempting to enter the site.

The ministers stressed that these measures constitute a flagrant violation of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the longstanding historical and legal status quo governing Jerusalem’s holy sites.

The statement strongly condemned what it termed “illegal and extremist incitement” by Israeli ministers and fringe groups who have called for further incursions and acts of violence.

The foreign ministers warned that such rhetoric fuels hatred and extremism, directly undermining international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace via the two-state solution.

Furthermore, the ministers denounced the arbitrary restrictions on access to Jerusalem’s Old City and its places of worship, warning that these limitations violate international humanitarian law and represent an unlawful attempt to alter the city’s character.

Reaffirming their unified stance, the foreign ministers asserted that Israel has no legal sovereignty over occupied East Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
