President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated on Thursday that Egypt will continue building a modern, advanced and strong state capable of safeguarding the rights of its people and protecting its resources, stressing that the country remains committed to development while preserving its sovereignty and national independence.
In his address marking the 74th anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, President Sisi said, “We continue to draw lessons from the glorious July Revolution, particularly those related to achieving social justice and building a strong state.
“We do not merely reflect upon these lessons; rather, we act upon them as we continue building a new, modern, advanced and strong Egypt,” Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy quoted the president as saying.
The president stressed that “since 2014, Egypt has embarked on a path of comprehensive development and the desired progress befitting its stature and its great people,” noting that the state had succeeded in confronting terrorism while simultaneously advancing ambitious development programmes.
He also highlighted certain achievements including in the foremost protecting freedom of belief, constructing places of worship, developing modern infrastructure, eliminating unsafe informal settlements, establishing new cities, reclaiming desert land, expanding conventional and renewable energy projects and increasing oil and gas discoveries.
These factors, the president noted, strengthened Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub.
It has also managed to advance education, healthcare, tourism and industrial localisation sectors.
The president also pointed to the implementation of the Decent Life initiative, which has improved living conditions for millions of Egyptians by providing dignified housing and essential services.
In this respect, President Sisi said Egypt had remained steadfast despite regional instability, successive conflicts and significant economic losses caused by external factors, emphasising that the country’s determination to build for the future had never wavered.
He credited the resilience, awareness and support of the Egyptian people for enabling the state to preserve security and stability and overcome unprecedented challenges.
The president praised the unity of the Egyptian people, the Armed Forces, the Police and all state institutions in confronting threats, while paying tribute to the nation’s martyrs for their sacrifices in defence of Egypt.
“No one can harm Egypt or diminish its capabilities. It is protected by God’s grace, fortified by the awareness of its people and safeguarded by the strength of its soldiers,” the president said.
Addressing regional developments, President Sisi delivered what he described as two key messages.
The first was “a message of peace”, calling on the international community to intensify efforts to end wars and conflicts, particularly in the Middle East, and to pursue a just and lasting peace that guarantees security, stability and prosperity for all peoples.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s firm rejection of any aggression against Arab countries and urged all parties to exercise restraint, halt escalation and return to negotiations, stressing that violence only leads to further destruction.
The second was “a message of hope and optimism” addressed to the Egyptian people. In such a scope, President Sisi expressed confidence that Egypt’s future would be brighter through scientific planning, continued development efforts and the fight against corruption, reaffirming the state’s determination to achieve progress and prosperity, Shennawy said.
Concluding his address, President Sisi extended his greetings to the leaders of the July Revolution, the Armed Forces, the police and every Egyptian contributing to the nation’s development.
