President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the security, stability and sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates, stressing that the security of the UAE and the wider Gulf region forms an integral part of Egypt’s national security.
Receiving the UAE’s President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is on a fraternal visit to Egypt, President Sisi underlined Egypt’s commitment to continuing close coordination with Arab partners in order to safeguard regional stability and advance shared interests, Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.
The visit included an official reception at the Presidential Palace, where a commemorative photograph was taken for the two leaders, followed by expanded talks between the delegations from the two countries, a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, and a luncheon hosted by President Sisi in honour of his guest and accompanying delegation.
During the bilateral meeting, President Sisi welcomed Sheikh bin Zayed and his accompanying delegation, emphasising the deep-rooted of the Egyptian-Emirati relations, and their strategic nature.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in support of the UAE and its leadership in safeguarding its territorial integrity and ensuring the security and welfare of its people.
For his part, the UAE’s Sheikh bin Zayed expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his delegation, highlighting the exceptional and historic ties between the two countries at both official and popular levels.
He also stressed his keenness to maintain continuous consultation with President Sisi on bilateral relations and regional developments, while expressing appreciation for Egypt’s supportive positions towards the UAE and the broader Gulf region, Shennawy said.
He added that the two leaders welcomed the recent agreement on ending the war with Iran and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
They also reviewed a number of regional developments of mutual concern and agreed on the importance of continuing Arab coordination to protect the security and interests of Arab states amid ongoing regional challenges.
In this context, President Sisi outlined Egypt’s vision for addressing regional crises, which is based on promoting comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solutions aimed at restoring stability and redirecting regional efforts towards development and prosperity rather than conflict and escalation, the Spokesman concluded.
