Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Radi, received the Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH), Ahmed el-Sobky, on Friday. El-Sobky is currently leading an official Egyptian delegation on a working visit to Italy.
The visit features a series of high-level meetings, workshops, and training programmes. These initiatives are focused on advancing health services, building institutional capacity, and boosting technical co-operation and knowledge exchange with Italian counterparts.
Ambassador Radi noted that the visit reflects the GAH’s ongoing efforts—as the body responsible for implementing Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance System—to forge strategic international partnerships with leading global institutions and governments.
These partnerships are designed to facilitate knowledge transfer, localise advanced medical technologies, and bring the capabilities of Egypt’s medical workforce in line with global standards.
The delegation’s visit aims to deepen bilateral co-operation by drawing on Italy’s advanced expertise in hospital governance, healthcare technology development, and digital infrastructure. This knowledge sharing comes at a critical time, as Egypt prepares to roll out the upcoming phases of its ambitious Universal Health Insurance System.
