Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held a series of phone consultations on Tuesday with African Union Commission Chair Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Burundi’s Foreign Minister Edouard Bizimana, Angola’s Foreign Minister Téte António, Tanzania’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit, and Democratic Republic of Congo’s Foreign Minister Thérèse Wagner. The discussions focused on reinforcing African joint action and advancing shared priorities across the continent.

According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the talks addressed ways to enhance African coordination in promoting peace, security, and stability, while also supporting sustainable development efforts. The ministers exchanged views on pressing regional and continental issues, including public health challenges. Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to share expertise, technical support, and resources to strengthen Africa’s collective health security.

The consultations also covered preparations for upcoming African Union events, including the eighth mid-year coordination summit and the forty-ninth session of the AU Executive Council, both scheduled to be hosted in Egypt later this year. Abdel-Aati emphasized that these gatherings will bolster cooperation between African states and the AU Commission, while advancing continental economic integration.

The exchanges underscore Egypt’s commitment to fostering African solidarity and ensuring that collective action remains central to addressing the continent’s challenges and opportunities.
