Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aati, had separate phone talks with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Friday.

The calls focused on reviewing the rapidly evolving regional situation, particularly the Iranian crisis and its implications for regional security and stability, as well as developments in Sudan.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Tamim Khallaf, said the discussions addressed the latest developments in the US-Iran negotiations and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a consensual settlement that takes into account the concerns of all parties, including Gulf states, while promoting regional peace and stability.

The talks also covered the situation in Sudan, as Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He stressed the importance of preserving Sudan’s national institutions as a cornerstone for restoring security and stability and reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any parallel entities.

Abdel-Aati also underscored the need to reach a humanitarian truce as a step toward a sustainable ceasefire, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and support a comprehensive political process led by the Sudanese people, with the aim of restoring stability and meeting the aspirations of the Sudanese nation.

Moreover, Abdel-Aati held another separate phone call with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali to discuss recent developments in Somalia and ways to strengthen bilateral relations and coordination between the two countries.

During the call, Abdel-Aati has reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Somalia and its national institutions, stressing Egypt’s close follow-up of developments in the country, particularly in the capital, Mogadishu. He underscored the importance of maintaining security and stability in Somalia.

Abdel-Aati also reiterated Cairo’s support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as the preservation of its national institutions.

He emphasised Egypt’s rejection of any unilateral actions that could undermine Somalia’s sovereignty or territorial integrity.

For his part, the Somali foreign minister praised Egypt’s continued political, developmental, and security support for Somalia. He expressed appreciation for Egypt’s consistent backing of Somalia’s unity and sovereignty and affirmed his country’s commitment to continued coordination and consultation with Egypt on issues of mutual interest to advance the shared interests of both countries.
