Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel-Aati, held a telephone conversation with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations and exchange views on key regional developments.

During the call, Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to advancing co-operation across a range of sectors, particularly in trade, investment and economic relations, within the framework of the political consultation mechanism signed between the two countries in Cairo in June 2025.

He also congratulated Austria on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, expressing Egypt’s readiness to work closely with Vienna during its membership in support of international peace and security.

The two ministers reviewed a number of regional developments, with Abdel-Aati outlining Egypt’s intensive diplomatic efforts to support the ongoing US-Iran negotiations and contain regional tensions through co-ordination with regional and international partners.

For her part, Meinl-Reisinger praised Egypt’s constructive role in promoting de-escalation and preserving regional stability.

The ministers agreed to continue strengthening bilateral co-operation and intensifying consultations on regional and international issues, reaffirming their belief that diplomatic engagement remains the most effective path towards achieving peace and stability across the region.
