Francisco Gutiérrez, Press Counsellor for the Spanish Embassy in Cairo, and his delegation on Tuesday visited the offices of The Egyptian Gazette.
During his meeting with the paper’s editor-in-chief Mohamed Fahmy, Gutiérrez expressed his country’s keenness to expand co-operation with the Egyptian media in general and this newspaper in particular.
This comes within the context of progress in bilateral ties as a consequence of continual communication between the governments of both countries.
In this regard, Gutiérrez referred to recent talks between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and head of the Spanish Government Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón on the sidelines of the European Union-African Union Summit in Brussels earlier this month.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the delegation highlighted upcoming cultural events organised by the embassy, which include a function to mark International Women’s Day 2022.
The delegation mentioned that Spanish Ambassador Ramón Gil Casares is in Aswan for the International Women’s Film Festival.
During this visit, the ambassador is to meet Aswan Governor Ashraf Attiya to discuss topics of common interest.
There will also be a ‘Spain Day’ at Aswan University put on by students and staff of the Spanish Department.
