Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met on Wednesday with Bishop Angaelos, head of the Coptic Orthodox Church in London, during his visit to the United Kingdom.
Minister Abdel-Aati praised Bishop Angaelos’ respected role in British society and the church’s efforts to support the Egyptian community abroad. He stressed the government’s commitment to strengthening national unity and caring for Egyptians overseas, highlighting the importance of their connection with the homeland. He encouraged participation in upcoming elections and the Egyptians Abroad Conference scheduled for August, as well as engagement with state initiatives designed to serve expatriates.
The Foreign Minister also reviewed regional challenges and Egypt’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability through political solutions.
Bishop Angaelos welcomed Egypt’s attention to its citizens abroad and outlined the role of the Coptic Church in Britain, emphasizing its standing within the wider community.
