CAIRO – The Egyptian and French naval and air forces are carrying out joint military exercises dubbed “Ramses 2022” which run for several days at the Mediterranean Sea waters.

The French Navy’s aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” and its accompanying combat groups along with a number of “Rafale” fighter jets are taking part in the drills.

From the Egyptian side, a formation of frigates, missile launchers and special troops from the Naval Forces along with a number of “F-16” fighters, multi-tasked Rafale fighter jets and MiG-29 jets have taken part.

The drills include a number of military activities to train the naval and air forces of both countries on the skills of planning and management of joint combat operations so as to unite the operational concepts, hone field skills, exchange combat expertise as well as prepare for carrying out any joint missions under any circumstances.

Ramses 2022 drills are the outcome of a growing partnership and military co-operation relations between the Egyptian and French armed forces to promote their capabilities to stand up against challenges in the region and secure vital objectives in the Mediterranean Sea.

A number of top military brass and the French military attache in Cairo attended the exercises.
