Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli conducted an inspection tour on Saturday to review the ongoing redevelopment and restoration of several historic areas and landmarks across Cairo. The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to preserve the capital’s historical and architectural identity while enhancing the visual appeal of its heritage districts.
According to Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsani, the Prime Minister inspected the rehabilitation of major streets in the Downtown area. This work is a core component of a comprehensive plan to revive Historic and Khedivial Cairo and restore their unique architectural character.
Madbouli also toured several newly opened traffic axes to assess traffic flow. These new routes are designed to improve connectivity between Cairo’s historic districts, ease movement across the capital, and reduce congestion.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Historic Cairo redevelopment project receives strong state backing and is being fast-tracked alongside Egypt’s wider urban expansion and infrastructure development. The tour concluded with a cultural celebration featuring various artistic performances, including painting, live music, dance, puppet shows, and caricature art.
