Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati met on Wednesday representatives of Egyptian companies operating across Africa, as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the role of the private sector in advancing Egypt’s economic and trade relations on the continent.

During the meeting, Minister Abdel-Aati stated that the private sector constitutes a fundamental pillar in strengthening economic partnerships with African states, expanding trade volumes, and attracting joint investments.

He praised the notable achievements of Egyptian companies in several African markets, highlighting their strong reputation and credibility in delivering major development projects.

The minister further underscored the government’s commitment to supporting Egyptian companies operating in Africa through close coordination with African governments and relevant institutions.

He noted that efforts are underway to address procedural and regulatory challenges, while enhancing channels of communication with competent authorities, thereby facilitating greater market access and improving the competitiveness of Egyptian enterprises.

Minister Abdel-Aati also referred to preparations for Egypt’s forthcoming hosting of a business forum in El Alamein, to be held on the margins of the African Union Coordination Summit.

He described the forum as a key platform for strengthening government and private sector partnerships, broadening trade and investment cooperation, and advancing economic integration across the continent in line with the objectives of Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He further stressed the importance of continuing to share Egypt’s development experience in construction, infrastructure, and modernisation with African partners to achieve mutual benefit.

The meeting also featured an exchange of views on promising investment opportunities across Africa, ways to enhance the participation of Egyptian companies in major development projects, and mechanisms to maximise the benefits of the AfCFTA, said the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallf.

He noted that the discussions additionally highlighted the potential of the El Alamein Africa Forum in strengthening Egypt’s economic presence and supporting sustainable development throughout the continent.
