The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone hosted a delegation from the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by President Iuliu Stocklosa, to explore avenues of bilateral cooperation. The meeting, held at the Authority’s headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, focused on potential collaboration in ports, maritime services, logistics, chemical industries, and metallurgy.

Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din presented the Zone’s strategic advantages, highlighting its location as a global trade hub supported by free trade agreements that provide access to over two billion consumers. He emphasized the Zone’s advanced infrastructure, skilled workforce, and competitive energy resources, noting that investments exceeding $16 billion from 30 different nationalities have already been attracted. He underscored Egypt’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Romania, building on 120 years of historic relations.

Stocklosa expressed appreciation for Egypt’s development projects, particularly in industry, infrastructure, and urban growth. He confirmed Romania’s interest in exploring investment opportunities in the Zone, especially in chemical and fertilizer industries, railway components, and port-related services.
