CAIRO – Chairman of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE) Sherif el Sayyad said a trade mission will be sent to Nigeria in early March as part of the council’s plan to expand the exports.
In statements on Friday, the EECE chief added that the mission will group 13 companies working in various sectors.
In cooperation with the Egyptian commercial representation service, a series of meetings will be held between the Egyptian and Nigerian companies to discuss boosting exports and available investment opportunities, he said.
There are plenty and promising investment opportunities in the African market, he noted.
The volume of Egypt’s exports to Africa constitute only 1 percent of its imports, which amount to about dlrs 600 billion.
Sayyad said the EECE aims at increasing the sector’s exports by 20 to 40 percent this year.
He added that the sector’s exports in 2021 hit a record high after registering dlrs 2.658 billion against dlrs 1.858 billion in 2020, with an increase of nearly 43 per cent.
