During a recent cabinet meeting, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi again emphasized the importance of improving public services, maximizing resource efficiency and boosting market performance to achieve sustainable development goals set out by Egypt’s Vision 2030. Furthermore, he reiterated that the country must promote foreign investment to help reach productivity and self-sufficiency targets.

However, like any economic and social development program, much of the intended outcomes depend on the integrity of public safety. As geopolitical and economic volatility increasingly affect a growing number of global communities, security has become a top priority for leaders seeking to make their national development plans resilient against the associated risks and threats.

Where improved public safety is in industry leaders’ interests, Egyptian organizations in both the public and private sectors will need to leverage scalable solutions to protect people and property, ensuring resilience to meet projected targets. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology can be a crucial element in implementing measures that meet public safety needs.

The importance of public safety in Egypt

Vision 2030 sets out the ultimate aim of improving the quality of life of all Egyptian citizens, focusing on sustainable economic growth and greater community participation in social and political matters. But while the focus on increasing social, economic and political mobility can enable higher living standards for citizens, it can also raise security risks.

The government has made profound efforts, with success, to mitigate Egypt’s leading threats of terrorism, petty crime and public disruptions. However, global geopolitical and economic tensions can fuel internal unrest, posing the risk of incidents that outpace an agency’s ability to respond.

As risks and threats grow in number and sophistication, organizations may need to seek real-time data-driven solutions to keep pace and implement measures that effectively and continuously ensure public safety. Many industries have adopted video intelligence technologies to address vulnerabilities, enhancing situational awareness and providing deep insight into the current security state, enabling decision-makers to take corrective action on identified gaps.

Intelligent solutions through visual data

In public safety, AI-assisted video surveillance cameras can be a crucial element in protecting people and property, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals. The technologies’ learning capabilities and advanced optics can help identify unusual activity, enable more accurate detection of public safety risks and facilitate swifter responses to mitigate potential damage and disruption.

Furthermore, the real-time video intelligence provided can help offer insight into public safety improvements, using incident and activity data to form solutions to evolving risks and threats faster with fewer required resources. Where volatility spreads from localized issues to a global scale, the ability to take action and implement measures to protect economic and social progress can instill confidence in Egyptian organizations and foreign investors.

Overall, the role of video intelligence in Egypt can enhance the resilience of national development projects. Where public safety incidents can compromise the achievement of the economic and social targets set by Vision 2030, implementing scalable measures to provide comprehensive oversight of infrastructure can help mitigate potential risks and threats.
