Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar held talks with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy to outline a joint strategy aimed at enhancing medical services for tourists and boosting Egypt’s competitiveness in health tourism.
Abdel-Ghaffar welcomed the tourism delegation, stressing that the meeting reflects Egypt’s national strategy to provide a safe, reliable, and world-class tourism environment. The discussions reviewed the Health Ministry’s efforts to apply governance and quality standards across medical services in resorts, hotels, and tourist destinations, supported by field inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
The two ministries agreed to establish a unified, digital system for pricing medical services in cooperation with insurance companies, ensuring transparency and accessibility for tourists. They also committed to expanding medical guidance in hotel clinics, strengthening hygiene and sterilization protocols, and launching a rapid-response support mechanism under direct supervision of the Health Ministry.
Sherif Fathy expressed appreciation for the Health Ministry’s commitment, highlighting the importance of joint action to raise the quality of healthcare services provided to tourists and reinforce Egypt’s position as a leading global destination.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both ministries, including representatives of international relations, hotel facilities, and licensing departments.
