Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah have reaffirmed the deep-rooted historical ties and longstanding fraternal relations between the two countries.

Abdel-Aati and Sheikh Jarrah also stressed the importance of further advancing bilateral co-operation across various sectors to meet the aspirations of the Egyptian and Kuwaiti peoples in development and prosperity, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The two chief diplomats revealed that they plan to convene the 14th session of the joint committee before the end of the year, with a view to expanding bilateral co-operation, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.

Abdel-Aati highlighted the need to boost economic, trade and investment ties, referring to promising opportunities in infrastructure, real estate development, industry and energy.

He also stressed the importance of enhancing trilateral co-operation in Africa, in coordination with the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

On regional developments, Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s firm stance towards Kuwait, condemning any actions targeting its security and stability and rejecting any infringement on its sovereignty.

He also affirmed Egypt’s backing of Kuwait’s measures to safeguard its security, while expressing appreciation for Kuwait’s support to the Egyptian community living and working in the country during recent sensitive circumstances.

The discussions also addressed ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and end regional conflicts, as well as the latest developments in US-Iran negotiations.

Minister Abdel-Aati briefed his counterpart on the outcome of his recent visit to Washington and the quadrilateral meeting held in Antalya involving the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye. He stressed the importance of taking Gulf security concerns into account in any future regional arrangements.

For his part, Sheikh Jarrah expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance, praising Cairo’s pivotal role in promoting regional security and stability, as well as its continued efforts to de-escalate tensions and boost Arab solidarity.
