MANAMA- Executive Director of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Mohamed Abdel Wahab said that Egypt has taken serious steps to ease and provide proper investment climate, noting that the authority is keen on luring more Bahraini investments to Cairo.
GAFI chief’s remarks were made during his meeting with Bahraini Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayati in Manama in the presence of Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain Yasser Shaaban. The meeting aimed at activating a joint co-operation mechanism for luring more Bahraini investments to Egypt.
During the meeting, Abdel Wahab reviewed the latest measures and investment incentives provided by Egypt especially the major national projects and potentials of investment in the various economic sectors.
He said GAFI is seeking to support the Bahraini investments’ file in several fields topped by food industries, tourism, construction and building, transport and logistics.
Abdel Wahab also reiterated that Egypt has vast potentials for investment and reviewed the major achievements of Gulf companies operating in Egypt.
The two sides agreed on organizing a visit by a high-level Bahraini delegation to Egypt to closely get briefed on investment opportunities in the New Alamein and the New Administrative Capital and other major national projects.
The Bahraini minister, for his part, asserted the strength and solidity of the Egyptian economy which offers a variety of investment opportunities in the various fields. He also voiced the support of the Bahraini government to all steps and initiatives aimed at beefing up the two countries’ ties for their best interests.
