ZAGREB — Egypt’s rower Mohamed Alaa won a gold medal after finishing first at the 2026 Croatia Open Rowing Regatta Championship, held on April 11–12.
Alaa delivered a strong performance in the Men’s Single Sculls event, finishing the race in 7:05 minutes and outperforming competitors in a race of 15 boats from various countries.
Hungary finished second, while Croatia finished third, marking a significant international achievement for the Egyptian rowing.

The result reflects the significant development of rowing in Egypt, supported by the Egyptian Rowing Federation’s efforts to prepare athletes for major international competitions.
For his part, Sherif El-Qamati, President of the Egyptian and Arab Rowing Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the achievement, saying Alaa’s victory is the result of hard work within the national rowing system.
