Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) is seeking to attract Spanish investments to key sectors, with plans to launch a promotional tour in Spain in the final quarter of the year.

The move was highlighted during a meeting between SCZone Chairman, Walid Gamal El-Din, and Spain’s ambassador in Cairo, Sergio Carranza, which explored prospects for deeper economic co-operation.

The zone is targeting Spanish companies in sectors aligned with its strategic vision, including food industries, chemicals, automotive components, and engineering equipment, SCZone chief said.

He underscored interest in attracting investments in desalination membranes, renewable energy, and port operations and logistics.

The integration between SCZone ports and industrial zones, along with its trade agreements and one-stop-shop investor services—currently undergoing full digitalisation—positions the zone as a competitive hub to address global trade and supply chain challenges, Gamal El-Din said.

He also announced plans for an investment roadshow in Spain later this year to showcase opportunities within the zone.

For his part, Ambassador Carranza expressed Spain’s appreciation for co-operation with the SCZone, highlighting its growing role as a global hub for industry and logistics. He noted that several Spanish companies are already interested in investing in the zone, citing its strategic location along the Suez Canal and its investment incentives as key advantages.

He added that strengthening co-operation with the SCZone would contribute directly to boosting economic integration between Egypt and Spain.
