Egypt strongly condemns Israeli strikes on Lebanon

The Arab Republic of Egypt has strongly condemned the series of blatant Israeli strikes and raids targeting wide areas of the sisterly Republic of Lebanon.

These strikes have resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties in flagrant violation of international law and established international norms.

Egypt also expressed its categorical denunciation of this brutal aggression, including the deliberate and systematic targeting of vital civilian facilities and infrastructure, describing it as a clear breach of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallf, Egypt affirmed that these violations, which come just one day after the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, stand in stark contradiction to the constructive and positive momentum that has emerged in the region.

It stressed that such actions undermine ongoing regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation, advancing dialogue and prioritising diplomatic solutions, and represent a further attempt to push the region towards wider instability, the statement read.

In this respect, Egypt called on all relevant regional and international stakeholders to act immediately to halt this dangerous escalation and prevent the region from descending into further violence and insecurity, it said in the statement.

It noted that Egypt reiterated its full solidarity with the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, underlining the necessity of respecting its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, while rejecting all attempts to undermine its security or destabilise its national institutions.

Additionally, the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut is in continuous contact with members of the Egyptian community to ensure their safety and provide the necessary support.

It confirmed that Egyptian nationals in Lebanon are safe and secure to date, with no reports of injuries.
