Egypt’s Minister of Labour, Hassan Raddad, has warned that escalating regional conflicts are severely destabilising economic and social conditions, driving up inflation and unemployment while disrupting production across all sectors.

Presiding over the 104th session of the Arab Labour Organisation (ALO) Board of Directors on Saturday, Raddad addressed a delegation in Cairo that included representatives from the Arab League. He noted that the meeting takes place during “exceptional” global tensions that threaten regional stability and breach international law.

Raddad highlighted that ongoing hostilities have spiked the cost of living and crippled infrastructure, describing attacks on civilians as “grave violations and war crimes”.

The minister called for a unified Arab front and intensified dialogue between governments, employers, and trade unions to find practical solutions to the labour crisis.

Raddad urged the United Nations and the wider international community to push for an immediate ceasefire, specifically citing the situation in Lebanon, and reaffirmed that a just political settlement is the only strategic path to Middle Eastern stability.

The minister praised ALO Director-General Fayez Al-Mutairi for his leadership in unifying Arab positions and elevating the organisation’s influence on the international stage.

Supporting these remarks, Al-Mutairi warned that the destruction of supply chains and infrastructure is currently threatening food and medical security across the region. He concluded by reaffirming the ALO’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, advocating for their right to statehood and decent working conditions.
