Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met on Monday with Dr. Wisdom Tettey, President of Carleton University in Canada, and Dr. Rafiq Gibran, Vice President of the university. The meeting focused on strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between Egypt and Canada.

Abdel-Aati expressed appreciation for the strong ties between the two countries and highlighted Egypt’s interest in expanding cooperation in higher education and research. He praised Canadian universities as global leaders in knowledge and innovation, noting their role in preparing skilled graduates able to meet modern technological challenges. He said this vision matches Egypt’s efforts to develop higher education and link it to labor market needs.

The talks also covered training programs and capacity building for African professionals, in cooperation with the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and the Diplomatic Studies Institute. Abdel-Aati pointed to existing partnerships between the Foreign Ministry and leading Egyptian universities, and expressed hope to replicate this model with Carleton and other Canadian institutions.

At the end of the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of continued coordination with Canadian academic institutions to support Egypt’s development goals and benefit from Canada’s scientific and technological expertise.
