Acting on directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Thursday. The talks focused on developments in Lebanon and conveyed Egypt’s support during a sensitive regional moment.

Abdel-Aaty affirmed full backing from Egypt’s leadership for the Lebanese government.

He said urgent aid, estimated at 1,000 tonnes and ordered by the president, aims to meet pressing needs. He added that Egypt remains a key supporter of Lebanon’s institutions and stability.

Salam conveyed his appreciation to President  El-Sisi, praising Egypt’s swift and tangible support. He said Lebanon values Cairo’s consistent positions that prioritize its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf said Abdel-Aaty stressed Egypt’s continued support.

He noted the minister has visited Beirut five times in two years, reflecting Lebanon’s importance to Egyptian diplomacy.

He also commended Lebanese institutions for hosting displaced people and providing care.

Abdel-Aaty reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of Israeli military operations. He condemned ground incursions in southern Lebanon and airstrikes across the country.

He warned of severe humanitarian consequences from infrastructure destruction and mass displacement.

He said using the crisis for military pressure violates international norms.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s position, calling for a comprehensive ceasefire and full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 without selectivity.

He also reiterated support for Lebanon’s efforts to extend state authority across its territory and ensure arms remain under state control.
