Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati met Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut on Thursday, during a visit to Beirut that mainly aims to deliver a message of solidarity from Egypt’s leadership and people.

Abdel-Aati conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Aoun and highlighted Egypt’s urgent humanitarian support, including the delivery of 1,000 tonns of relief aid earlier today. He also stressed Egypt’s firm backing for Lebanon’s sovereignty and unity during this critical time.

President Aoun expressed deep gratitude to Egypt, praising its historic and honorable positions. He said Egypt’s swift response to Lebanon’s humanitarian needs reflects genuine brotherhood and Egypt’s central role in regional stability.

This is Abdel-Aati’s fifth visit to Beirut in less than two years, underscoring Egypt’s strong engagement. The chief diplomat voiced confidence in Lebanon’s resilience and the ability of its institutions to support displaced citizens, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf said.

The talks also addressed ongoing Israeli military actions. Abdel-Aati condemned airstrikes, ground incursions, and attacks on UNIFIL sites, describing them as violations of sovereignty and international law. He warned against using the humanitarian crisis as a tool of pressure.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s call for full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and welcomed President Aoun’s negotiation initiative.
