Minister of foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone chat with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday to discuss rising tensions in the region.

Minister Abdel-Aati praised the strategic partnership between Egypt and China, noting the progress of relations in recent years across many fields. He expressed hope for deeper cooperation, especially as the two countries celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations.

He highlighted financial cooperation, including the currency swap agreement, and voiced interest in doubling its value. He also pointed to stronger collaboration with China’s Development Bank to boost Chinese bonds. Abdel-Aati warned that the ongoing military escalation disrupts trade routes, supply chains, food and oil prices, and increases inflation.

On regional developments, Minister Abdel-Aati stressed the urgent need to reduce tensions. He warned that continued escalation threatens regional and global security. He called for more coordination to contain the conflict and emphasiseddiplomacy and dialogue as the way forward. He called for quick action to prevent the crisis from spreading into wider confrontations.

Both ministers agreed on the importance of containing the situation. They underlined the need for intensified contacts and efforts to end the war. They emphasised ongoing communication with all parties to push for de-escalation and peace.

The call reflected shared concern over the impact of the conflict and a commitment to joint efforts aimed at achieving stability. Both sides signaled readiness to work together to ease tensions and protect regional security.
