Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat convened a meeting on Wednesday with officials from the National Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management.

The move came in response to ongoing military escalation and its impact on regional energy prices and supplies,

During the meeting, the minister reviewed operational plans, new electricity management protocols, and initiatives designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, promote rational consumption, and maximise output per fuel unit. He underscored government efforts to prepare for all contingencies arising from prolonged military operations or regional instability.

“The continuity, security, and stability of electricity supply remain our top priority,” Esmat said, outlining strategies to enhance service quality and optimise the national energy mix. The meeting also included a detailed assessment of operational fuel reserves across all power plants and coordination with the National Energy Control Centre to maximise fuel efficiency and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Esmat stressed the importance of ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to secure fuel for electricity generation. He directed continuous monitoring of fuel reserves at each plant, daily reporting on consumption levels, and the strict implementation of energy-saving measures to maintain a stable and reliable electricity supply.

The minister also highlighted the central role played by electricity control centres, regional operations units, and the National Energy Control Centre in ensuring the resilience and efficiency of Egypt’s national grid.
