Minister of Planning Ahmed Rostom met with Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad on Wednesday. They reviewed progress on the 2025/2026 plan. They also discussed proposals for the 2026/2027 investment plan.
This meeting is part of ongoing coordination sessions. The goal is to finalize the next fiscal year’s investment framework.
Rostom said local development and environmental investments are top priorities. They help improve living standards across governorates.
He stressed the need to improve how investments are allocated. The aim is to upgrade services and strengthen local administration. He also highlighted the importance of environmental protection and expanding green projects.
He added that the ministry is working to include environmental factors in planning. It is also improving data quality and staff training. Training is supported by specialized programmes.
The meeting reviewed key programs. These include environmental improvement, community services, and local economic development. They also include rural development and administrative support.
Awad presented the Environment Affairs Agency’s plan under Egypt Vision 2030. It includes six main programmes. These cover climate action, pollution reduction, and natural resource management. They also promote the circular economy and green industry.
Supporting programmes include waste management, digital transformation, afforestation, and environmental awareness.
Priority projects include a climate risk map and air and water quality programmes. They also include the “100 Million Trees” initiative. Another goal is to develop at least one model protected area in each plan.
